Initially developed as a project to attract public attention to urban issues, Street Dirt centers around people one passes by every day and wants to averts their eyes from instantly. We’re trying to show that everyone is pure till certain circumstances step in the way or other people interfere. Portraits of the homeless produced in such a technique manifest widespread attitude towards tramps. Street dirt is a tool we provide city with. Splashes from cars, trucks and passersby develop images of the homeless who are often misinterpreted and misunderstood. Photos of the actual homeless were taken by Vlaimir Abikh in Yekaterinburg, a Russian city famous for its industrial landscapes and troublesome streets.

Technical details:
30 portraits on board: dirt on latex paint, cellotape, 120x180cm
46 photo portraits: digital print, 35x40cm

As of now, the project has been run and was exhibited in several cities across Russia and Europe, including Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, St. Petersburg, Kansk, Murmansk, Tymen, Copenhagen (Denmark) and Ljungberg (Sweden).
